Surprise Home Birth and the Out Breath

Surprise Home Birth
I am delighted to share with you this amazing home birth story from a very strong mama who gave birth at home with just her husband present as he spoke to the ambulance despatch. ( I am actually lucky enough to have even heard the birth via the magic of whatsapp – and I could not have been more excited! )
What a beautiful baby – Congratulations to the whole family. 🙂
“Hey Carrie!
So a bit of a surprise early arrival in the household on Mon. Centred breath, TENS and a very short period of Out Breath and we were done!
I woke with regular contractions at 2am, but no show and waters hadn’t broken, so went downstairs on my own with my TENS on! About 6am I suddenly threw up and my waters went. Baby was delivered on my hands and knees at 6.31 by Daddy with amb control on the phone! Crazy but def preferable to a long protracted complicated hospital one!!! And wooden floors in the living room so other than a dressing gown and fleece that are now dead to us, no damage done 🤣🤣
I def don’t think it would have happened at home without Daisy. I was just so in my birthing bubble that I got a bit carried away 🤣 . I had Daisy mantras ‘I ride the waves of my contractions with ease’ and ‘each contraction is a step closer to my baby’ going through my head (in your voice 😘) constantly. It was an incredible experience and I wouldn’t change it.
Baby Sister is doing well, as am I. Just working on establishing breast feeding and trying to grab the odd hour of sleep when poss!! Also still no decision on name.
Take care and hopefully see you in the Autumn for some classes.

First Daisy Baby of 2021!

Birth Story!

So excited to announce the arrival of baby James – who was born at the beginning of January – the first baby in our little Daisy community to be born so far this year.

This was the second time that M had attended classes with me – the first for her daughter during which she went on to have a natural birth and the second for her son which was a planned C section for a breech presentation.  M now has two different but equally beautiful birth experiences under her belt.  Looking forward to seeing you back in baby classes M – Congratulations!

“Hi Carrie

James was born on Tuesday by c section at 3.7kg, he is a healthy boy and now feels like our family is complete! 🙂
I was booked on Monday for the section for baby being breech. I couldn’t sleep much the night before and arrived at Southmead at 8:30. Unfortunately I was 4th on the queue and emergencies kept coming through, so at 4pm we were sent home (I was starving!) And ask to come back next day.
I was really tired so managed to have a really good night sleep before the c section on Tuesday, so that worked well at least!
On Tuesday everyone was really lovely in
Theatre, midwifes, surgeons and nurses all introduced themselves and made sure we felt relaxed.
I had a lovely birth with my first, natural and speed recovery as you know so I was really disappointed when I was told baby was breech and had to go through c section, but all that was forgotten as soon as he was born.
Just a few minutes in, we heard little baby boy cry, and all our worries disappeared
I had the same adrenaline rush and happiness I felt when my first was born.
Everything went really well with the surgery and we were sent home the next day.
Thanks a lot for all your support this pregnancy, same as last time. Looking forward to see you in some baby classes, hopefully in a few months!!
Take care xxx

“Words can not describe how glad I am that I made the decision to do antenatal classes with Carrie and Daisy Birthing 🌸 It gave me all the confidence and tools that I needed to enjoy and make the most of my pregnancy as well as create the perfect birthing experience. I had a homebirth and used Daisy techniques as my only pain relief. It was an amazing experience and I would highly recommend these classes to anyone 💕”  Anna

“Carrie is a wonderful teacher and so knowledgeable, I can not recommend her and the daisy classes enough! This was one of the highlights of my pregnancy. Each week I looked forward to relaxing, taking the time to learn and just thinking about my baby. I always walked away feeling so calm and happy. Carrie made me feel like I had confidence, I had learned so much about what to expect and about my choices during labour. I do feel like all pregnant women should go to daisy classes as knowledge is power!”  Amy

“Carrie is amazing! Would 100% recommend the Daisy Active Birth workshop for couples. So well informed and lots of techniques and advice which will be so helpful. Carrie is really caring and kind and goes out of her way to make you feel comfortable. Am looking forward to attending her post-natal classes also! Thank you Carrie for all your help for me and my husband! X”  Lauren

“We completed the Daisy Parent course and loved it! Carrie’s knowledge and enthusiasm was evident from the very beginning and the way she adapted the course to be online, via zoom was brilliant. She made us feel very welcome even though we were meeting on-screen and each session was delivered with the right level of interaction and information. It was great to hear about all the techniques, these were remembered into the labour and will continue to be used in the future. We were given the best possible start to our lives as parents by Carrie and the course.” Becky

“Absolutely loved Carrie’s Daisy classes! It was very relaxing – think Hypnobirthing meets Yoga with some practical education thrown in! I met some lovely Mums-to-be & Carrie was a great teacher. She is very down to earth, knowledgeable & genuine and I liked that she could draw on her own birthing experiences when teaching the class. I’d highly recommend Daisy Classes as most of all it teaches you to feel confidant and empowered, and that we do have control over our birthing experiences! xxx”  Laura

“I cannot thank Carrie enough for all she has taught me in the six plus weeks through the Daisy Active Birthing classes.
Having known Carrie beforehand I already knew I was in capable, thoughtful, knowledgeable and kind hands and Carrie didn’t disappoint.
Despite lockdown Carrie displayed a high level of professionalism – open to questions, easy to understand and never a question missed to make you feel like you know it all and can always ask for more.
With thanks to Carrie I had minimal assistance throughout majority of the labour and the finale was out of my control. Yet I still had the breathing techniques and affirmations rolling around and around to remind me I will be ok! With thanks to this course I felt I had more control, knew where I stood and things were done my way.
If you’re ‘thinking’ about giving this course a go – don’t hesitate – there’s no doubt in my mind that you will have a successful outcome.
To Carrie – thank you for giving me the strength and determination to get through one of the biggest challenges I’ve ever had! So pleased to have met you many moons ago!”   Tasha
“Would massively recommend these classes to any pregnant ladies. I found the breathing techniques really helpful during the birth of my baby boy. Carrie is a brilliant teacher and very calming.”  Alanna

Welcome to Daisy Bristol : Emersons Green, Warmley, Kingswood & Surrounding Areas

Looking for pregnancy or baby classes?  Find out more here.

Hi, I’m Carrie, mum of two amazing children. It was quite a challenging journey into parenthood, but one I am incredibly grateful for.     I now split my time between being a Mummy, a Paediatric nurse and a Daisy Teacher.

I have nursed for several years, but after becoming a parent I found that I wanted to support families during pregnancy and early parenthood in another way.

And so, since 2015 I have been running pregnancy, birth and baby preparation workshops alongside postnatal & baby classes.  These classes currently run in Emersons Green, Warmley and Kingswood.

I really feel passionately that pregnancy is one of the most special and important times in a family’s life, and I love that I can to help enhance that special time even more, as well as empowering people to make confident and informed choices about pregnancy, birth and parenthood.

What can I do for you?

I am delighted to be offering the continuous perinatal support that is so important during pregnancy and new parenthood as well as enabling the relationships built by mums in birthing classes to grow as they continue their journeys together postnatally, peer support is such an important part of new mummyhood, and being able to spend time bonding with baby in a calm relaxing environment is invaluable.

It is a privilege to be able to support and hold space for women and their families from 14 weeks of pregnancy through until her child turns 2 years old.

We keep it real, we use evidence based content, and we enjoy relaxed, flexible and fun workshops.

A positive birth is a birth which is understood with confidence and empowerment throughout, even if your journey veers from your original preference.

I offer continuous perinatal support and perinatal education to Mums and Families across the Bristol , South Gloucestershire, Bath and North East Somerset  area with mums and families from the wider region attending my classes and workshops, which are centralised in Emersons Green, Warmley and Kingswood. With a background in Paediatric Nursing, Research Nursing and of course my own experience with my two children I bring a wealth of experience to my role as a Daisy Foundation Perinatal Educator.

Please take a look at the “My Classes” section below to find out more about what I can offer you.

I am looking forward to meeting you!
