Hi I’m Barbara and in 2018 I completed my year long Perinatal Educator Certificate with The Daisy Foundation. Since then I have delivered antenatal classes and birth preparation workshops in Glasgow. I have a 20 year career in Social Work working with families and in mental health services. I am also the parent to two young children under 7. As a result I bring experience and knowledge to my role as a Daisy Foundation Perinatal Educator. Continuous Professional Development is very important to me. So, I ensure I am updated on recent research and guidance informing the services I offer to customers. I am registered with the Federation of Antenatal Teachers and the Scottish Social Services Council.
Most importantly, I believe that investing in women, families and communities is central for the creation of a healthy society. It is underestimated the importance of non judgemental support from women to women. This support can promote positive pregnancies, births and motherhood for instance. I aim to support and empower women to make choices that are right for them and their children. This support is offered through evidence based information.
